Talk by Prof Hardev Singh at UIAMS on Innovative Entrepreneurship

Chandigarh, November 4, 2016: Honorary Professor, The Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Nottingham University Business School, UK Prof.Hardev Singh today had an interactive session with the students on Innovative Entrepreneurship and Business Sustainability at University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.
Prof.Hardev Singh urged upon the students to identify innovative business ideas that serve as solution to economic or social problems. The journey from problem identification to the deployment of solution was articulated through 6Ds: Identify,
Define, Determine, Discover, Develop and Deploy. He emphasized that start-up funding is not a constraint rather money chases across borders innovative business ideas.
His talk was replete with real-life examples.
Prof. Hardev Singh highlighted the importance of building a viable and sustainable eco system with clearly defined roles of each stakeholder for innovative business idea incubation. Questions on the Role of Mentor, funding options for start-ups; and
challenges faced by entrepreneurs were addressed.
Director, UIAMS, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma stated that “within 8 years of its existence, UIAMS has carved out a niche by developing distinct management programmes in sectoral domains. UIAMS already has an Ecell with the tagline “Innopreneurs-Innovative Entrepreneurs”, in self we believe. The vision of the Ecell is to inculcate a spirit of entrepreneurship in students and to enhance creativity and innovation. It provides a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The session organised by the Placement Cell of UIAMS was coordinated by Prof Manoj Anand, UIAMS in which 50 budding entrepreneurs participated. Dean International Students Prof Deepti Gupta, CSDE Honrary Director Dr. Harish Kumar, Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, TPO UIAMS and members of Faculty were also present in this interactive session.
