Ludhiana, January, 2017: Fortis Hospital Ludhiana has always been an initiator to bring more revolution into staff training methodologies. Compassion is a complex multi-dimensional concept that has moral cognitive emotive and behavioral components. Taking this on a serious note, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana organized Supervisor Skills training for employees to enhance their creativity and bring out the best interms of their skills.

To equip the supervisory cadre with requisite people skills to facilitate better performance and engagement with the team. The programme was organised under the supervision of Mr. Vivan Singh Gill, Director Fortis Hospital Ludhiana.

Giving more information Dr Jaspreet Ahluwalia, Regional Training Head (North & East) said, Fortis is transforming itself to become an integrated world class healthcare delivery organisation. One of the key strategic imperative that the organisation is focussing on to achieve this transformation; is to enhance the people and leadership capabilities across levels. Today Fortis has about 1800 + employees at the supervisory cadre level. The role of supervisors is very critical and has a direct impact on the key organisation deliverables such as patient care (complaints, patient experience), clinical errors and attritions.

Further Mr. Shrikant Juneja, Unit Training Head said, Supervisory skills here is referred to the ability of providing and disseminating accurate knowledge, giving instructions, helping to organise the tasks, engaging with team members and monitor activities and track results. Supervision is defined as the act of watching a person or activity and making certain that everything is done. Supervision derives word “Super (above) and Videre (see, observe).

The 2-days workshop at Fortis Ludhiana unit focused to help them appreciate the scope and importance of their supervisory role and responsibility (employee productivity, task completion/ results, employee morale and welfare, accurate communication), to establish and improve their inter personal relationship with own teams and other functions wherein they have interdependencies, to communicate effectively the knowhow, instructions and required information, and skills of feedback giving , reviewing and monitoring. The program is positioned to enhance their current performance. The program in workshop mode (with no lecture & ppt., but activity-based experiential learning) covered various aspects of Supervisory Skills, like –
