Ludhiana, January 27, 2017: Under the supervision of Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana Sh.Jatinder Singh Aulakh, the Ludhiana Police is on toes for the smooth conduct of upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections, 2017. During the tenure of last 26 days, cash, gold, silver and narcotics have been recovered during checkposts by unit incharges, area officers and by different police stations. Besides, a great success has been achieved in the form of serving of non- bailable warrants, deposition of licensed arms and arrest of proclaimed offenders.

Giving information, Deputy Commissioner Police Sh. Mandeep Singh Sandhu told that Ludhiana Police has recovered cash of 2, 24,13,292 rupees, 38.985 kg Ganja, 416 gm Heroine, 93 kg poppy husk, 577 gm intoxicating powder, 780 tablets and capsuls, 25829 bottles of English Vine, 16 kg 263 gm 180 mili gm gold, 70 gm silver pistol point 315 bore during these days.

He further said that during a checkpost on 19 January, 2017, 20 rifles point 315 bore were recovered from I-20 car. These rifles were being carried from Mohali Airport to Ferozepur in the absence of any security. These rifles have been returned to the owners after verification.

He informed that there are 14268 arms licensed holders in police commissionerate, Ludhiana. They have a total of 17243 arms, out of which 16728 arms have been deposited in the various police divisions and gun houses. 469 convicts were issued non-bailable warrants by the various courts, out of which 452 warrants were served.

Sh. Sidhu informed that 456 proclaimed offenders have been arrested from 27 oct. 2016 to 27 jan. 2017, by the Police Commissionerate Ludhiana keeping in mind the smooth conduction of upcoming assembly elections.
