Chandigarh, September 24, 2019: The ten day short term mobility program for Nottingham Trent University and Panjab University had a special interactive session with Andrew Ayre, British Deputy High Commissioner, and Fergus Auld, Head of South Asia Department and India Coordinator, UK on 23rd September 2019.
Addressing the students, Ayre spoke of the immense amount of opportunities that stem from such programmes.
Auld also shared his experiences of visiting India as a youngster and how his experiences shaped his career. Students from Panjab University and Nottingham Trent University shared their experiences of the short term mobility program.
The students from NTU and PU also visited the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram for an interactive session on Yoga and Meditation where they witnessed a demonstration on various asanas and their benefits by an expert. Swami Atmajananda Ji gave a lecture on the power of yog and meditation and took them around the meditation hall and students reading hall in RKM ashram. The academic sessions for the day included a session on Mental Health and Social Well Being by Dr Manjushree Sharma faculty of UIAMS wherein she highlighted the close connect between mental health, physical health and social health. The second session for the day was delivered by Prof.Manvinder Kaur from
Department of women studies who spoke on Gender Dimension of Human Rights, where she discussed the need to move beyond stereotypically defined gender roles. The students also visited the cow shelter in Sector 25 and learned about the social initiatives being taken by Dr Gaurav the faculty of Department of Social Work, PU.
Today students visited the thermal plant at Rajpura and learnt how Punjab is dealing with issues concerning conservation of energy resources.
