Students and Staff Run for Unity at Khalsa College

Jalandhar, October 31, 2014:Students and staff here at Lyallpur Khalsa College participated in the symbolic Run for Unity today on National Unity Day celebrated to mark the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel. Organised by the Social Sensitization club of the college, the event included oath taking to maintain National Unity and integrity, show of a documentary on Sardar Patel in addition to March past by NCC wings of the college.

Speaking on the occasion the College Principal Dr. GS Samra said that in the present times of international strife was rising, and in such times a sense of unity and solidarity was the most needed thing, adding that in this matter the youth of the country could play a really effective role. In her address, the president of the College Governing Council Balbir Kaur urged the students to understand their responsibility towards maintaining communal harmony.

Vote of thanks on the occasion was made by Prof Amita Shahid, Convener of the club.

The occasion was witnessed by the presence of Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint secretary College Management, staff members and a large number of students.
