Shanta Kumar lauds health insurance scheme announced in Union Budget

Dharamshala, February 2, 2018: BJP MP and ex-CM Himachal Pradesh Shanta Kumar has termed the union budget for FY2018-19 as highly commendable.
In a statement here today, he added the best part in it was the to give health insurance of Rs.5 lakh per year to 50 crore poor people of India.
He said, “This is biggest health policy of the world, and Himachalis are lucky that such a policy has started under Health Minister JP Nadda’s leadership.” He said that it is true that poor public is always denied the required medical facilities due to lack of money, and being forced to sell the belongings or go for loan which haunts them throughout their life. The new announcement of health insurance is highly appreciable, he added.
Shanta said that when he himself was a minister at the Centre, he started Antyodaya Scheme for the poor of the poor, which then was the largest in the world.
