Giant Starkenn Partners with Rotary Club of Pimpri Chinchwad to organize a Cyclothon

Pune, January 30, 2018: In an attempt to create awareness about the ill effects of pollution and encourage people to have a cleaner lifestyle, Starkenn Sports Pvt Ltd. in association with Rotary Club of Pimpri Chinchwad is organizing a Cyclothon. The bicycle rally will commence on Sunday, 4th February 2018 at 7.00 AM from Mayor House Plot, Pradhikaran and will cover through maximum area of PCMC. The event will witness participation under 3 categories namely Full Cyclothon (30 kms), Half Cyclothon (15 kms) and Kids Cyclothon (5 kms).

The ultimate aim of this Cyclothon is to create awareness amongst citizens about the alarming conditions of air pollution due to increased number of public and private vehicles in Pimpri Chinchwad. The increased level of air pollution has a number of health hazards such as birth defects, cancer, asthma bronchitis, skin rashes etc. This Cyclothon will give a message of reducing vehicle emission and increase the use of bicycles which will also help in achieving a healthy lifestyle. The Rotary Club of Pimpri has adopted 2 villages namely Kharpud and Khopewadi from the Khed taluka and is helping them to solve their various problems to increase their income and livelihood. With the help of this Cyclothon, Rotary Club is planning to raise funds and encourage participation from the corporate sector so that a change can be brought in the lives of the families who are in need.

This time we have come up with Rotary Cyclothon to create awareness about the increased level of air pollution in PCMC and why this is the high time we all should reduce the usage of motorized vehicles and use bicycles for our daily commutation. Since Pune was once known for its cycling culture, we should bring that culture back to promote sustainable way of transportation for the betterment of the environment.”
