SC Commission resolves issue of defunct sewerage and dumping of garbage in Ambedkar Nagar, Rahon

Chandigarh, September 2, 2019: With the intervention of Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, the issue of clogged sewerage and dumping of garbage at Ambedkar Nagar in Rahon has been resolved.

Giving information, the Chairperson Tejinder Kaur said that the Commission had taken suo-moto of this health hazardous issue after a news published in a section of media. She said according to the news, the stagnating water and poor sanitation system in the streets of Ambedkar Nagar under Municipal Council, Rahon have made the life miserable for its residents. The residents were also irked due to dumping of garbage from other areas near this locality, said the Chairperson adding that the local administration was not finding any solution to ensure relief to people facing health hazardous.

The Chairpersons said that the Commission had directed the Deputy Commissioner Nawan Shahr to submit a detailed report in this regard. Consequently, the District Administration informed the Commission that works related to civic amenities had been started in the area to provide clean environment to the residents.
