FEROZEPUR, NOVEMBER 1, 2016: Two days Inter-disciplinary National Conference on “Frontiers in Material Research & Applications” was organized by the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities in association with the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering, Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus. The theme of this academic congregation itself covered a wide range of critically important sessions that paved the way to exchange ideas and perspectives on the challenges in materials applications and research. Generous response and active participation received from the Researchers, Academicians, Scientists and Students from across India. Overwhelming response was received in the form of research papers, but nearly fifty papers were accepted for the presentation during the technical sessions of the conference and publication in the conference proceeding after review process.
Participants from different parts of India participated in this conference and presented research papers on the latest developments in the field of materials. Dr. T. S. Sidhu, the Chief Guest and the Director of the institute addressed the participants. He expressed that the field of materials have not only helped the development in different fields in science and technology, but also contributed towards the improvement of the quality of human life to a great extent. Dr. Udai P. Singh, Professor, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhuvneshwar delivered the keynote lecture on “Polycrstalline Thin Film Solar Cell Technology”. Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Maurya, Principal Scientist, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi and Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Professor, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra delivered invited lectures and shared their views on thin film characterization by X-ray and novel biomaterials respectively.
Dr. Lalit Sharma, Patron of the Conference, Dr. A. K. Tyagi, Conference Chair, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Convener of the Conference, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Co-convener of the Conference, Er. Rajiv Arora, Coordinator of the Conference and Er. Bohar Singh, Coordinator of the Conference also highlighted the broader applications of materials, including ceramics, polymers, semiconductors, magnetic materials, medical implant materials and biological materials.
