Chandigarh, November 26, 2019: Panjab University, Chandigarh today observed the Samvidhan Divas by taking an oath pronouncing the preamble to the Constitution of India collectively by Prof.Shankarji Jha, Dean University Instructions, PU in the presence of Prof. R.K.Singla, Dean Research, Sh.Muneeshwar Joshi, Secretary to Vice Chancellor and all officials of VC office. Similar oath was taken at the Administrative Block by Prof.Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Sh. Vikram Nayyar, Finance & Development Officer in the presence of officials of the Administrative Block. The faculty, staff members and students of various departments of PU similarly took an oath on the occasion of 70th Constitution Day of India observed as Samvidhan Divas. SPECIAL LECTURE ON SAMVIDHAN DIVAS Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Panjab University Chandigarh organized a special lecture to commemorate Samvidhan Divas by Professor Emanual Nahar, Dean Student Welfare, PU. He said that Constitution of India is the best constitution which has been in place since 70 years of freedom. The Constitution depicts the best principle of equality, liberty, sovereign, socialist and social justice, but its implementation depends upon the will power and mindset of the political leaders, executives and bureaucrats. The Preamble is the mirror of our constitution which reflects the ideology of constitution 42nd amendment of 1976 added two more words in the Preamble- Secular and Socialistic, he added. The Constitution shapes parliamentary democracy, Indian States and subsequently Indian society. India has passed through three phases of development since independence which can be divided from independence of liberalization i.e. from 1947-1966, 1967-1990 and 1990 onwards. During these phase conformed to various challenges as well as achievement. The constitution has to go through various amendments to handle the problems emerged in our society at economic, social and political front. First phase 1947-1966 is characterized by a period of no development, abundance poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and a phase of British legacy and [power is concentrated in the elite hands. The second phase of 1967 to 1990 faced revolutionary changes like land reforms polices for the agricultural and industrial development. Third phase 1990 onwards was characterized by a period of economic boost which was the result of new economic changes like Liberalization, privatization and globalization. It has successfully contributed in bringing transparency in the parliamentary democracy. Various faculty and research scholars from different departments participated in the event. NSS VOLUNTEERS OF GURU NANAK GIRLS COLLEGE CELEBRATES 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ADOPTION OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION Ludhiana, November 26, 2019: NSS Volunteers of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana celebrated 70th Anniversary of the adoption of Indian Constitution as Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) on 26th November, 2019. Volunteers organized talks about the importance of Indian Constitution to spread awareness about fundamental duties. The students also watched live proceedings of Parliament session. They also took pledge to follow fundamental duties. Poster Making competition on the theme “Respect for National Symbol” was also organized. Director Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal acknowledged the contribution of the framers of the constitution and sensitised the students regarding the exalted values and precepts enshrined in it. Independence, Democracy, Socialism and Secularism are some of the key tenets of the constitution.
