Sale & Breeding Of Magur Fish Banned

Ludhiana, November 4, 2015: Police Commissioner, Ludhiana, Mr Paramraj Singh Umranangal, under section 144 of CrPC 1973 (Act No 2 of 1974) has banned the sale and breeding of Magur fish (also spelled as mangoor) in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. As per the ban orders, some anti social people smuggle this fish, which is harmful for our health, from other countries for meagre financial gains. This fish preys on its own breed and also harms village ponds and animals. For indian fishes, this fish is very harmful and if it mixes with our natural waters, it can be very harmful for other insects and fishes living in water. That is why, the sale and breeding of Magur fish has been banned.
