Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki on Sunday visits various grain markets of Ferozepur district.
Ferozepur, April 26, 2015: Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki today visited various grain markets of Ferozepur district and took stock of the situation. While ridiculing State Government for poor arrangements for procurement, he said that the farmers were facing immense hardship in absence of basic amenities in the grain market juxtaposed with tardy lifting process.
Slamming the administration, Pinki said that due to flabby planning, the process for tenders for the lifting could not be completed. He alleged that the administration also failed to provide basic amentias like water, security and lights in the grain markets. He said that the farmers have to bear the brunt due to sloppy arrangements. He also blamed that on one side the farmers bore the loss due to bad weather, the procurement agencies are also not giving any relief to the poor farmers.
While on the other side, the administration claimed that 3,30,930 MTs wheat have been purchased in the district. While giving details about the procurement made by various agencies, SDM Sandip Garha said that 67430 MTs wheat has been purchased by PUNGRAIN, 68967 MTs by Markfed, 49135 MTs by PUNSUP, 45088 MTs by Warehouse, 29280 MTs by Punjab Agro, 45631 MTs by FCI and 3799 MTs by traders.
