Report to police of caller from +92 or 0092 STD codes

Ferozepur, October 1, 2012: Maj (Retd.) Rachhpal Singh, District Social Security Welfare Officer, Ferozepur informed that as per the letter received from the Army, it has been observed that some Pak Intelligence Operatives are trying to collect the information about the activities of Indian Army and contact numbers of Commanders, from the existing and retired Army personnel, by calling from +92 or 0092 STD codes and giving allurement of lottery money.

DSSWO further said nobody should divulge any information to these callers without ensuring proper identification and whenever any information is asked about Army by any unidentified person or through a call from+92 or 0092, by saying about the lottery draw, the call/message should not be attended and information to this effect should be given to the nearest police station and station headquarters.  He further warned that in case any serving or retired Army personnel are found indulging in this activity, a strict action under the law shall be taken against him.

It has been observed in the past also certain persons of Ferozepur had been received lucrative messages saying a particular mobile number has won a huge amount in a lucky draw, and then seeking the personal details of the beneficiary.

It is pertinent to mention that even Pakistani SIM cards were being misused by the cross-border drug peddlers in the area. The Pakistani mobile networks have their presence well within the Indian Territory , a fact which is exploited by the smugglers and anti-national elements in this border area.
