Ramgarhia Girls College organises Sarv Dharma Sammelan

Ludhiana, November 8, 2014: The Legal Literacy Club and the Departments of languages of Ramgarhia Girls College organised the Annual Sarv Dharam Sammelan in association with Swami Vivekananda Study Circle, Ludhiana.

The seminar brought together people following different religions, but with a broad outlook towards humanity. Swami Vivekananda’s life is a source of inspiration to all Indians to rise above the barriers of caste and creed and create a holistic society.

Principal, Dr Narinder Sandhu extended a hearty welcome to the Chief Guest for the day, Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council and the Guest of Honour, Swami Satyaeshanand, Director, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Chandigarh, eminent guests like Dr. Vijay Asdhir, Director, Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology, Ludhiana, C. S. Talwar, Retd. IAS, Secretary, Punjab Red Cross Society, Founder Secretary, Swami Vivekananda Study Circle, Vijaya Lakshmi Soi, President, Swami Vivekananda Study Circle and the resource persons representing different religions. She said that the seminar aims to provide a platform conducive to a healthy discussion on the significance of religion in man’s life.

Dr. B. P. Mishra represented Hinduism, Anurag Singh discussed Sikhism, Maulana Usmaan delivered a talk on Islam and Father Samson shed light on Christianity. Dr. Vijay Asdhir addressed the students on this occasion and narrated the story of a simple boy named Narendra and how he transformed himself with the blessings of Sri Ramkrishna Paramhans and at a later point in life addressed the august gathering at the world conference of religions at Chicago. Vivekananda captured the hearts of the audience when he started off - “Brothers and sisters of America…” C. S. Talwar said that this seminar will help the youth realise the infinite energy that is inherently present in each of them and how it can be channelised in the proper direction.

Soi reiterated the thoughts expressed by Talwar and said that the biggest religion is humanity. All human beings are the living temples of the eternal lord. It is our duty to keep this temple pure- in thought and indeed.

Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council, observed that religion plays a defining role in our lives and each religion fosters a sense of brotherhood and peace among people.

Vinay Sofat, Coordinator, Punjab State and Prof. Jaspaul Kaur, Dept. of Punjabi, thanked the speakers for sharing their valuable insights with the students of the college.
