Jalandhar, October 21, 2014:       Around 300 young girls & faculty from the Department of KMV-Unit of NSS, Student Welfare Club and the Department of Life Sciences participated in a rally to raise awareness about the importance of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali. 

Students with placards urging every citizen to celebrate a cracker free Diwali marched from KMV, Vidyalaya Marg to Doaba Chowk.  The placards also suggested that people should be cautions regarding eating sweets and celebrate Diwali with low-cholesterol, adulteration-free sweets.  The slogans urged the citizens to be sensitive towards birds and stray as well as pet-animals while making noise with crackers and also by to save electricity. 

Principal KMV Prof. Atima Sharma congratulated the students and the faculty members of the various departments for organising such a rally about an issue of great social relevance and also of great-civic sense.  Also present on the occasion were Dean Students Welfare Dr. Madhumeet, Sadhana Tandon, Anupam, Ashima, Dr. Savita, Richi, Sonam, Madhavi, Priya, Shabnam, Navpreet and Priyanka.
