New Delhi, September 23, 2014: In the recently concluded Senior National Power lifting Championship held at Goa from 16th to 21st September 2014. Indian Railways Teams lifted, Men and Women Championships as well as Overall Championship.
In Men’s championship, Indian Railways participated in 8 weight categories out of which Indian Railways Power lifters lifted 7 medals - all Gold.
P.Suresh (59), D Arun (66), Mahesh (74), Balwinder Singh (93), Angrej Singh (105), Gurdeep Singh (120), Udaikumar (120+)
P. Suresh was declared strong Men of the Championship. Incidentally he has been the Powerlifting National Championship for the last 11 years.
In Women Championship, Railways partifipated in 7 weight categories out of which Railway women had a podium finish in 6 categories with 3 Gold, 1 Silver & 2 Bronze.
Rekha Acharya (57), Vandana Dubey(63), Aparna Ghate (84) Gold, Naju Arora(72) Silver, S Logeshwari (63), Deepali Jolgaonkar (72) Bronze Ms. Vandna dubey was declared the strong Women of the Championship.
