Ludhiana, October 30, 2014: Lovepreet Kaur of Bathinda clinched gold in 800m clocking 2:17.30mnts on the opening day of Punjab State Women Games at Guru Nanak Stadium, here today. Pawan Kumar Teenu, Hon’ble Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Sports and Youth Services and Welfare of SC and BC was  the chief guest on this occasion who took the salute as many as 2200 participants wearing colorful track suits given by Punjab Sports Department and declared the games open. Sharanjit Kaur of Gurdaspur won silver in 2:19.07mnts where as Jyoti Saini of Hoshiarpur has to satisfy with bronze in 2:21.54mnts.
Earlier, Rupinder Singh, Assistant Director Sports, Punjab made warm welcome of the Chief Guest and other distinguished guest present on the occasion. Teenu informed that Punjab Government is doing wonders for the promotion of sports in the rural areas of the state and he encouraged the participants towards sports. Kartar Singh Sehamby, OSD to Director Sports, Punjab made vote of thanks.
The torch bearing ceremony was performed by Navjot Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Rajni, Upneet Kaur of Athletics, Shubhkarman of Swimming and Nagma of Bassketball  where as Ishpreet Kaur of Swimming  took the oath on behalf of all the participants. A cultural programme Gidda was also performed by the girls of Ramgarhia College.
In Kabbadi first round matches Amritsar outplayed Fatehgarh 37-22, Roop Nagar crushed Moga 50-11, Faridkot defeated Gurdaspur 35-6 and Kapurthala beat Barnala 32-12.
In the preliminary matches of Kao-Kho Ferozepur defeated Pathankot 14-2, Faridkot outplayed Mukatsar Sahib 13-5 and Hoshiarpur beat Amritsar 10-3, Fazilka beat Fatehgarh Sahib 5-4 and Sangrur defeated Mohali 11-3.
In Volleyball Amritsar Sahib defeated Faridkot 3-0, Bathinda beat Fazilka 3-0, Moga outplayed Pathankot 3-0, Ludhiana beat Tarn Taran 3-0, Mohali beat Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar 3-0 and Hoshiarpur beat Ferozepur 3-0.
In Handball Ludhiana beat Mohali 10-2, Barnala defeated Gurdaspur 13-9, Kapurthala beat Faridkot 22-19, Ferozepur beat Jalandhar 14-9 and Roop Nagar beat Moga 21-14.
In Basketball Patiala beat Sangrur 49-36, Bathinda outplayed Faridkot 35-20, Amritsar defeated Mukatsar Sahib 40-15, Kapurthala outplay Mansa 39-20 and Gurdaspur beat Fazilka 29-6.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar defeated Hoshiarpur 2-0 in Badminton, Amritsar outplayed Fatehgarh Sahib 2-0, Saangrur beat Barnala 2-0, Roop Nagar beat Gurdaspur 2-0, Jalandhar Beat Pathankot 2-0, Ferozepur defeated Faridkot 2-0, Moga beat Bathinda 2-1 and Ludhiana beat Mukatsar Sahib 2-0.   
In Table Tennis Ludhiana beat S.B.S Nagar 3-0, Gurdaspur defeated Ferozepur 3-0, Patiala beat Fazilka 3-1 and Mukatsar Sahib beat Fatehgarh Sahib 3-1.
In Hockey Ludhiana beat Ferozepur 5-0, Jalandhar crushed Moga 10-0, Tarn Taran beat Gurdaspur 4-0, Mukatsar Sahib defeated Sangrur 3-2 and Patiala beat Barnala 7-0.
