Punjab Women Hockey League: Amritsar wins double crown

Final match between Amritsar and Mukatsar Sahib under-15.

Ludhiana, September 30, 2012: Amritsar won double crown in  Punjab Women Hockey League concluded at S. Prithipal Singh Memorial Hockey Stadium, Punjab Agriculture University, here today.

Amritsar defeated Mukatsar Sahib by one goal in Girls Under – 15 Group where both the teams tried their best in which Paramjit Kaur succeeded through penalty corner  42nd minute of the match  as the match was cliff hanger tie.
In another final match of above – 15 age group Amritsar routed Host Ludhiana by 10-1 goals as Amritsar girls showered goals on the host as Ramandeep Kaur shooted 5 goals, Polly Kumari scored 3 goals and Shikha Bisht contributed 2 goals for the winning team. The lone goal was made
by full back Simranjit Kaur for the host.
Amritsar ousted Patiala by 4-3 goals by penalty shootouts in the semi-finals where as Ludhiana defeated Mukatsar Sahib by 5-3 goals in tie breaker.

The league was finished with success as it was a great effort by the Punjab Sports Department to attract girls in the field of
sports as stated by Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana.
Dr. Rishipal Singh, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) and Olympian Ramandeep Singh, Deputy Director Sports, Punjab Agriculture University were the Chief Guest on Both the Finals and gave away
prizes to the winners.
