Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission Summons Executive Officer Of Nagar Panchayat Sahnewal

Ludhiana, June 6, 2016: For its failure to remove encroachment on land meant for Scheduled Caste community, the Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission has summoned the Executive Officer of Nagar Panchayat, Sahnewal on June 27. After this issue was brought to the notice of Punjab SC Commission Chairman Mr Rajesh Bagha, the Deputy Commissioner was asked to get the matter related to village Nandpur checked thoroughly. Despite the inquiry report pointing out the encroachment, the Nagar Panchayat failed to get it removed. This matter was now brought to the notice of Mr Gyan Chand, Member, Punjab SC Commission, today, who has summoned the EO on June 27, 2016.
Mr Gyan Chand would now hear the complaints, grievances and problems of members from the scheduled caste community in Ludhiana district twice a month (first and last Monday) and would resolve them on the spot. On the directions of Punjab SC Commission chairman Mr Rajesh Bagha, member Mr Gyan Chand today listened the grievances of public at District Welfare Office, here.
While giving further information, Mr Gyan Chand said that this decision has been taken because people faced problems while visiting Chandigarh for the redressal of their grievances, complaints or problems. That is why the members would now visit different districts twice a month. On this day, the officials of the concerned departments would also be called and reports would be sought. He said that now people can either submit their complaint/grievance/problem directly with the commission or can submit them with the District Welfare Office as well. He said that the complaint/grievance/problem received at Chandigarh would also be sent to respective districts.
Mr Gyan Chand would now visit Ludhiana and hear complaint/grievance/problem of people on June 27, 2016. Mr Gyan Chand was also honoured by Harish Jatwal, President, Sant Guru Ravidass Jatav Samaj Maha Sabha, on the occasion.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Jasdev Singh, District Welfare Officer, Raj Kumar Happy, President, Dr Ambedkar Youth Sena, Vijay Sehjal, Secretary, Manoj Chohan, ex director, Dalit Bhalai Vikas Board, Rohit Sonker, Member All India SC Morcha BJP, besides several others.
