Chandigarh, October 4, 2013: The Punjab Government is all set to establish 85 police outreach centers with the cost of 8.5 crores to speed up the delivery of police services at the door steps of the people.
This was disclosed by SK Sharma, Additional Director General of Police, HRD & CP, and Punjab. He was speaking at a meeting organised to review the working of the Saanjh Kendra in the state of Punjab.
This Performance Appraisal Meeting of Nodal Officers of all Saanjh Kendra was organised at Committee Hall of the Governance Reforms Commission, MGSIPA, and Chandigarh. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Pramod Kumar, Chairman, and Governance Reforms Commission and chaired by S.K. Sharma, IPS Additional Director General of Police, HRD & CP, and Punjab. The meeting was attended by the Nodal Officer of all the Saanjh Kendra.
Addressing the meeting SK Sharma said that the establishment of 85 new Police out Reach Center would be another step to expand the reach of saanjh Kendra in the state. He said that all these units would be made operational in the first month of 2014.
Dr. Promod Kumar said that more that 2 million services have been delivered by the Saanjh Kendra in time bound manner. He said that special emphasis was laid on the launching of the third phase of the project by initiating community programmes in collaboration with community members to tackle problems of drug paddling, drug trafficking, human trafficking, snatching, crime against women and other crimes that affects social environment.
S.K Sharma ADGP said that out of the total 14606 complaints received in the saanjh Kendra on the issues related to women and children, 9114 cases have been resolved and 364 FIRs have been registered. Similarly out the total 4494 complaints received on the issues of Economical and Financial crime, 2804 cases have been solved and 112 FIRs have been registered. He further said that 3371 other complaints have also been received by the Saanjh Kendra and 2103 cases were solved and 84 FIRs have been registered.
