Chandigarh: October 10, 2013: In a bid to provide new avenues to the farmers to supplement their income, the Punjab Government has established Bio-mass Plants in the various Tehsils of the districts in the state.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab Government said that these plants  has been established in the seven Tehsils of the state. He said that among these 7 Bio-mass Plants, one plant having capacity of 6 MW at Mukatsar, 8 MW at Abohar, 14.5 MW at Malot, 6 MW at Garhshankar, 6 MW at Nakodar, 12 MW at Rajpura and plant having capacity of 10 MW has been established at Mansa.He said that the total accumulated capacity of all these plants was 62.5 MW.

He further said that under the 'Earn Don't Burn' campaign of the Punjab Government, PEDA has appealed the farmers of the state that they should not burn the stubble. He said that Punjab Government has decided to give 40 to 50% subsidy on stubble balers, rake and stubble chopper to collect the paddy stubble through Punjab State Farmers Commission. He appealed the farmers to sell their straw to the Bio-mass Plants so that their income could be increased. www.cityairnews.com
