PUNJAB GOVERNOR INTERACTS WITH INDUSTRIALISTS AT CII

Chandigarh, October 12, 2016: Interacting with selected Industrialists comprising of the office bearers of CII, today Confederation of Indian Industry at their headquarter in Sector 31, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore heard their views and sought their suggestions to develop Chandigarh as smartest city in all the areas.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that our prime aim was to see that the Administration provides a responsive, transparent and interactive forum to the citizens. He said that Chandigarh is already enjoying the status of Number one city in many areas but we want to go ahead to achieve the goal. He said that along with skill development, up graduation of skill is also required.
The Governor said that Chandigarh had very limited land and therefore in the context of industry we should only go for pollution free industry. He said that Chandigarh should be a City where everybody’s interest should be looked after and we have to plan and work accordingly.
Stressing upon innovation and research work, Shri Badnore said that the quest for knowledge was unending and research for new discoveries must continue as we cope with the change and new challenges. He said that latest technique developed by the national and trade laboratories should be transferred to the industries, so that they could manufacture these equipments and supplies them to various fields of development. He also asked to develop a much closer interaction between the industry leaders and the educational institutions.
The Governor also asked for suggestions as to how to make this city greener. Mr. Gaurav suggested to have inter sectoral greening competitions in the City. On this the Governor asked the Adviser to the Administrator to work on this aspect also. Besides, this other important issues discussed were traffic management and solid waste management, public transport system and renewable energy.
Lauding the role of CII, the Governor said that CII is doing a yeoman service in providing management professionalism in this part of the country.
Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Dinesh Dua, Chairman CII, Mr. R.M. Khanna, Past Chairman, CII, Mr. M.P. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Mr. Parimal Rai, Adviser to Administrator, Mr. D.L. Sharma, Past Chairman CII (Punjab), Mr. Sameer Goel from Infosys and Mr. Babu Khan, Regional Director.
