Punjab Government organised two-day 4th Mega Job ‘Mela’ at LPU Campus
Jalandhar, February 20, 2019: Government of Punjab organized 4th Mega Job Mela (Fair) at Lovely Professional University (LPU) Campus, where hundreds of young men and women participated. This organization was under Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar & Karobar Mission from Department of Employment Generation & Training, District Kapurthala, to facilitate thousands of jobs and entrepreneurship to aspiring young men and women of the area. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC Kapurthala) Davinder Pal Singh, ADC (Development) Avtar Singh Bhullar, ADC Mrs Babita Kaler, and District Employment Generation & Training Officer Neelam Mehay observed the whole job providing affairs held in co-ordination with the training and placement officers and student volunteers of LPU. During this event, government agencies including Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY); National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC); Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE, GOI); Punjab Skill Development Mission-Hunar; and, many other were there to provide career opportunities. In addition, scores of companies including LIC of India, Reliance Jio, Tech Mahindra, Swiggy Food, Zomato, OLA, SBI/Axis/IDBI/ ICICI Bank, Bector’s Food, Eureka Forbs, Videocon, Patanjali, even Lovely Professional University and more forwarded job opportunities. Appreciating the remarkable arrangements made by LPU teams, DC Mr Singh shared that he felt honoured to address youth at one of the top university, LPU, on the very first day of his tenure as DC Kapurthala. Consulting the various heads of job-offering, training- providing and finance-making companies and agencies, DC Kapurthala sought more help and co-ordination from LPU officials so as to drive the job fair with exquisite spontaneity, in its next phases, for the welfare of the youth of Punjab. He also advised students to act upon the inertia of mind and shun out all negativities and impossibilities from their minds. On this occasion, job seekers were also inspired through advising slogans like “Mera Hunar, Meri Shaan; Keep Yourself Fit, Stay away from Drugs”, and so on. Job seekers were also guided about self-employment and entrepreneurship through various agencies including PNB RSETI, C-PYTE, and District Industries Centre. Under these provisions job seekers can avail the benefits of free training in programmes including food-processing, detergent-soap making, multi phone servicing, auto/tractor repair and many others. Under C- PYTE, aspirants are provided free training to join Army, Air- Force, Navy, BSF, ITBP, CRPF, Punjab Police and more. Along with training, youth can get free accommodation and food as well.
