Most acclaimed play 'The First Teacher' written by Manju Yadav staged by Alankar theater
Chandigarh, March 6, 2019: The most acclaimed play 'The First Teacher' written by Manju Yadav was staged on Wednesday by Alankar Theater to commemorate the upcoming International Women's Day. The event was organized by the Panjab University Alumni Association in collaboration with the Department cum Center for Woman Studies. The event kick started by honouring Prof.Shankarji Jha with a token of appreciation by Professor Deepti Gupta, Dean Alumni Relations. The play aptly named as 'The First Teacher' depicts the struggle of a teacher named 'Rameshwar' who toils hard and crosses each and every hurdle in order to spread the light of education in Daulatpur, a small village in Uttar Pradesh. The play also highlighted how his long-haul ultimately bore fruit and his student 'Sangeeta' stood the test of time and achieved a doctorate degree. The nail-biting performance by the artists kept the audience engrossed throughout and the theatre team received a standing ovation from the two hundred plus audience.
