KMV Establishes Centre of Research & Innovation to Promote Quality Research in Education
Jalandhar, June 3, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar has always encouraged its faculty & students to become more research oriented and innovative. In order to keep up with the global standards, KMV has established a world class Centre of Research & Innovation in order to promote the research aptitude in the teachers and also to highlight the various research related achievements of the faculty. It is important to mention that the Research Forum is one of the regular features of the college and it will be organized by Centre of Research & Innovation from time to time in order to promote the research-oriented activities. The college in order to promote the quality research among the students will provide Seed Money to the undergraduate students. It is worth mentioning here that KMV has been conferred with the Star College Status by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India to strengthen the science education. This seed money will encourage the students to innovate and explore different areas in sciences which are useful for society and will also help in Sustainable Development. The amount of the seed money will depend on the novelty of the project and its budget submitted in the proposal. The college faculty will be guiding the students in writing proposals and project work. Students will also be provided financial support to attend the conferences and present their research work. Students are also being provided financial support to carry out innovative experiments, demonstrations & model making. Students will also be supported to attend summer internship programmes at various research institutions of National Importance. It is pertinent to mention that the seed money of Rupees 30,000 was sanctioned out of college funds to the many departments of the college including PG Department of Computer Science & Applications, PG Department of Chemistry, PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, PG Department of English, PG Department of Commerce and PG Department of Mathematics. It is important to mention that two faculty members of KMV namely Mrs Ashima Sahni, Dept. of Political Science & Dr Davinder Singh, Dept. of Sports & Physical Education have been awarded with the 'Award for Excellence in Research' by the KMV Principal for their outstanding research & the level of their publications which included a cash prize of Rs 10000/- each. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi maintained that the involvement of faculty in these research activities will result in the enhancement of their knowledge and will also update them regarding their subject which will be of great benefit to the students. This novel initiative of KMV is bound to elicit excellent results. She further maintained that in this competitive world, the teachers should always strive to pursue more quality based research as this is the only way through which students can also be motivated to engage themselves in the research oriented activities. She lauded the efforts of IQAC of the college in the establishment of Centre for Research & Innovation.
