Punjab Government Directs DCs To Ensure Timely Disbursement Of Old Age Pensions

Chandigarh April 20: The Punjab government has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the state to ensure timely disbursement of the old age pensions to the beneficiaries in their respective districts.
In a statement issued here today a spokesperson of the Social Security department said that an amount of Rs. 84 Crore has been released for the disbursement of about 19.82 lakh beneficiaries across the state.   
The spokesperson also said that besides this the Finance department has also sanctioned approximately Rs. 200 crore to be disbursed as old age pensions to the identified and eligible beneficiaries up to March 31.  He also said that the DCs have been asked to submit the compliance report by April 23 in the Social Security department.  They have also been asked to ensure that the amount be given to the beneficiaries alone and be deposited in their bank accounts.
The district Social Security Officers have also been asked to extend cooperation to the district administration so as to avoid any further delay in this matter.
