PUNJAB FULLY GEARED UP FOR FULL PROOF MINING POLICY: SIDHU

NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, APRIL 9, 2018: With an aim for full proof mining policy for the state, The Local Government Minister, Punjab, Mr.Navjot Singh Sidhu today held a meeting with Secretary, Ministry of Mines Mr.Anil Mukim, Joint Secretary (Mines) Dr.N.K.Singh and Director Mines, Government of India Mr.Prithul Kumar to consult various aspects related with mining policy in threadbare here today.

Mr.Sidhu, who is also Chairman of Cabinet Sub Committee on Mining for Punjab, revealed that today`s meeting was held for consulting all aspects with Center`s higher authorities in order to bring a full proof comprehensive mining policy keeping in view the interests of Common People and for generating revenue for the state.

"We got valuable suggestions during the meeting that would help in making the Punjab Mining Policy full proof with due reference to rules and regulations. Besides, we also got study report of 13 Indian States that would also be helpful in making the Punjab Mining Policy a subliming foundation, said Mr. Sidhu adding further that the final draft of New Mining Policy for Punjab would be submitted on April 21.

Mr. Sidhu further said that the Punjab Government under the visionary guidance of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh is fully geared up to release comprehensive policy on mining taking into account views of all the stakeholders and emphasis would be on to weed out the lacunae in the previous mining policy. The main objective of the new mining policy would be to plug in the revenue loss caused to the state exchequer.

It is pertinent to mention that while Punjab Minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu Is the Chairman of cabinet sub-committee on mining, the other members of the committee are Finance Minister, Punjab, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal and the Rural Development &Panchayat Minister, Punjab, Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa. Mr. Sidhu further said that as per the directions of Chief Minister Punjab the sub-committee would submit Final Policy Draft on April 21.

Director Punjab Local Bodies Mr. Karnesh Sharma and Advisor to Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mr. Angad Singh Sohi were also present on the occasion.
