SWACHH SURVEKSHAN 2019:  MUNICIPAL CORPORATION LUDHIANA INTENSIFIES EFFORTS TO MAINTAIN CLEANLINESS & GREEN COVER IN CITY

Ludhiana, September 5, 2018: In view of the ‘Swachh Survekshan 2019’, the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana is all set to better its ranking and for this purpose, it has prepared a detailed plan. Efforts are being made to increase green cover and maintain cleanliness in the city. A meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of MC Joint Commissioner Dr Poonam Preet Kaur at MC Zone D office, here.

While providing information, Dr Poonam Preet Kaur informed that the Horticulture Branch has been to plant tree saplings near the garbage secondary collection points, so that it presents a neat and clean picture. She said that GLADA is to provide 18,000 tree saplings to MC Ludhiana, that would be planted in different parts of the city in next two weeks time and Chief Sanitary Inspectors would ensure that these tree saplings are maintained properly.

Besides, 10 sites have been chosen along the Budha Nullah and the staff has been directed to carry out plantation there. The representatives of A2Z company have been directed to plant tree saplings on the Tajpur Road garbage dump and they have also been directed to complete the proposed composite plant. She said that by doing this, the garbage would decrease from the garbage dumps. The company officials have been directed to install Swachh Survekshan 2019 banners on one side of the garbage trucks and should also install garbage bins in different parts of the city.

She also directed that the company should ensure that garbage doesn’t fall off from the garbage trucks during transportation. The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) branch has also been asked to submit a detailed report regarding public toilets in the city, and their timely maintenance should be ensured.

She informed that the Health Officers and all Chief Sanitary Inspectors have been directed to choose one specific place and carry out cleanliness drive there, and the reports along with photographs regarding the same should be sent through Whatsapp so that they can be uploaded on the Swachh Manch Portal.

All the officials present in the meeting were directed to complete all the paper work by September and start working in the field so that Ludhiana’s rankings in Swachh Survekshan 2019 get better.
