PULSE POLIO DRIVE FOR CHILDREN IN AGE GROUP OF 0-5 YEARS FROM JUNE 16-20

Ludhiana, May 27, 2019: For making the children aged 0-5 years free from polio disease, pulse polio drive would be held in the district from June 16-20, 2019. This drive would be held in Ludhiana city, Sahnewal and urban areas of Koom Kalan block, besides children from migratory families living in rural areas would also be covered. Similarly, migratory children would be covered in Khanna, Jagraon, Samrala, Raikot, CHC Payal, Manupur, Machhiwara, Malaud, Sudhar, Pakhowal, Hathur and Sidhwan Bet blocks from June 16-18, 2019.

This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Sanyam Aggarwal while chairing a meeting regarding pulse polio drive at Bachat Bhawan, here today. The meeting was attended by several senior officials of health and other departments.

The ADC (D) was briefed in the meeting that the population of children from migratory families aged 0-5 years in these areas is 379030, which can also increase. He informed that to cover these children, a total of 1651 teams have been formed, which include 93 mobile, 53 transit, and 1505 teams to cover houses.

In view to check the spread of Dengue, Chikungunya and water borne diseases, Mr Sanyam Aggarwal urged all government departments to work in tandem so that there is no spread of these diseases in district Ludhiana. The ADC (D) also directed the health as well as Municipal Corporation officials to carry out surveys to check dengue larvae in residential as well as commercial areas and if any violation is found, challans should be issued.

While chairing another meeting of District Health Society, Mr Sanyam Aggarwal reviewed the progress of activities of health department for the month of March 2019. He also directed all SMO’s and CDPO’s to work jointly so that all health related government schemes and programmes of Punjab government are implemented in the district effectively.

He directed the Health department officials to ensure timely surprise checks of all ultra-sound centres of Ludhiana district so that the social evil of female foeticide is checked. And if any person is found violating the rules, then strict action should be taken against them.

The ADC (D) directed the officials to organise special awareness drive in all blocks of the district so that people are sensitised about all welfare schemes and programmes of the department.
