Ferozepur, December 9, 2019: Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Chander Gaind on Monday issued direction to revoke all 21 Arms Licenses pertaining to people with criminal cases and Proclaimed offenders (POs) with immediate effect, following a recommendation made by Senior Superintendent of Police.
Divulging more, the deputy commissioner stated that initiating a revocation procedure a show cause notice is being issued to all 21 Arms License holders to explain as to why their licenses not to be revoked permanently.
Mr. Gaind said that he has received a report from Senior Superintendent of Police Viveksheel Soni, who recommended the cancellation of license of 21 Arms License holders based on serious criminal cases lodged against them and being announced as proclaimed offenders by various courts.
The deputy commissioner stated that out the list of 21 license holders nine have been accounted as proclaim offenders and other 12 are having serious criminal cases against them. He further added that the revocation of these licenses has been started and within few days all the licenses will be cancelled. He further added that he has directed the SSP Ferozepur to submit a detailed inquiry report into this matter as all of these licenses were issued between the years 2007 to 2010. Mr. Gaind said that the SSP has also been asked to submit a report on the facts that if the cases were registered against them before obtaining a weapon license, then how they managed to get police clearance report? Whether the recommendation of revocation has been made in-time or there was a delay over there? The deputy commissioner said that the police department has also been asked if any delay was found in making the revocation recommendation, then take stern action against the responsible officials.
The deputy commissioner said that this is a serious issue and any kind of callousness in this regard is unwarranted and stern action will be taken against responsible officials if any kind of negligence is found in discharge of their duties.
