Proposal to bring students till class 10th under mid day meal scheme

Ludhiana, September 3, 2019: Punjab State Food Commission Member Gursandeep Singh Grewal has stated that the commission has sent a proposal to the Punjab government for bringing students till class 10th under Mid Day meal scheme. He said that when this proposal comes into being, the Food Security Act 2013 would be implemented in the state in an effective manner.
He said this while attending a function organised to make the Guardians of Governance (GoG’s) aware about various schemes under the National Food Security Act, at Guru Nanak Bhawan, here today. This function was attended by a large number of GoG’s as well as officials from different government departments.
While addressing the gathering, Gursandeep Singh Grewal stated that at present, students till class eighth are covered under the Mid Day meal scheme and are provided lunch. But now, the Punjab State Food Commission has sent a proposal to the Punjab government for bringing students till class 10th under Mid Day meal scheme.
Grewal said that the GoG’s are eyes, ears and arms of the state government as they are already working hard for implementing the welfare schemes of the government at grassroots level. During the meeting, all GoG’s were educated about various welfare schemes of government, paper work involved in it and ways to implement them successfully. He also motivated them to report laxity as well as good works that are taking place in implementation of the government schemes.
They were also encouraged to use government portal for uploading any kind of public related problem which they come across at various levels.
ADC (Development) Dr Rishipal Singh also addressed the gathering. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Amarjit Singh from GoG, DFSC’s Gita Bishambu and Sukhwinder Singh, besides several others.
