PAMETI organized training programme on “FPO’s linkage with extension, inputs, infrastructure, value addition & market”
Ludhiana, July 31, 201: Government has made an announcement to form 10,000 new Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) in the next five years so that small and medium farmers achieve economies of scale in production and also increase their income.
Keeping this objective in mind, Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) organized a three day training programme on “FPO’s linkage with extension, inputs, infrastructure, value addition & market” from 29 to 31st July, 2019 in which 48 extension officials from State Agriculture & Allied Department and members of FPOs from various districts of Punjab participated.
Dr Harmeet Kaur, Deputy Director- Business management explained the need for FPO as it helps farmers to lower cost of cultivation as well as achieve higher realization from sales through collective marketing. Participants were made aware about the concept of eNAM by Dr Shalendra from MANAGE, Hyderabad who took the session through video conferencing. A session on maintaining better relations for sustaining FPOs was taken by Dr Rupinder Kaur which was appreciated by all as it helps an individual to understand inter personal relations. In addition to this various other sessions on various concepts of FPOs were held by experts of PAMETI & PAU.
Dr H S Dhaliwal, Director PAMETI explained the concept of Road side display that is a solution to farming community, who has their land on the main roads to earn more profits. He motivated the farmers to adopt this innovative model of on farm marketing so that they sell their produce directly to consumer and eliminate the role of middle men.
Trainees very enthusiastically participated and appreciated the efforts of PAMETI and urged the need for organizing more such programmes in future also.
