President of Mauritius to be Chief Guest at 4th Convocation of LPU

Jalandhar, April 9, 2015:  President of Mauritius Kailash Purryag will be the Chief Guest at the Convocation ceremony of Lovely Professional University. LPU is going to organise its 4th convocation on two consecutive days, April 20 and 21, for bestowing honours/degrees/diplomas on mammoth number of 29,000 students.  LPU will also bestow ‘honoris causa’ degree of doctorate on the esteemed guest President Purryag. LPU Regular and Distance Education students of 2013 batch will receive degrees/diplomas on April 20, whereas, all such students of 2014 batch on April 21.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal informed: “We are happy to inform that this time too respected President of a country has consented to be our honourable guest at the convocation ceremony. LPU students are indeed lucky to be blessed by President of Mauritius who is recipient of several honours of high order and is also a great statesman & dynamic commander. In 2013, we were honoured by two Presidents, Dr Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and Dr Pranab Mukherjee of India, by sharing 3rd convocation dais; whereas, this year President of a beautiful country is benevolent enough to be present amid us on two-days.”Appreciating ever supportive role of students’ parents, Mittal expressed his longing for parents’ presence on such memorable occasions when their wards receive honours and accolades.

Illustrative, for convocation rehearsals gold medalists of batch 2013 are required to be present on April 19th at 1300 hrs; whereas, gold medalists of batch 2014 are to report on April 20th, 2015 at 1600 hrs. Presence at the rehearsals will be taken as confirmation for receiving the Gold Medal.LPU Alumni Association will also provide an opportunity to all the students of these batches to reunite and rejoice with their class-fellows in the evening of the respective days for high-tea.
