‘106th ISC Vigyan Jyot’- a torch rally on the pattern of Olympic Torch was organized at LPU campus

Jalandhar: On the pre-day of the inauguration of world’s biggest five-day Science Congress at Lovely Professional University, ‘106th ISC Vigyan Jyot’-‘Flame of Knowledge’ rally was organized at the campus to arouse spirit of science & technology among all. Dignitaries from ISCA (Indian Science Congress Association) & LPU, faculty, staff members and students of the university carried the torch from main gate of the university to the cauldron situated at ‘Pride of India’ expo arena established at LPU Campus. The rally covered all the departments of LPU on the way of near 2 Kms diameter at the campus. It was led by a group of dancing, chanting, and drum beating students, with expressions of great happiness for being a part of great event. Illustrative, massive activities for the congress are to be held at LPU campus from 3rd to 7th January 2019, where Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the science congress tomorrow i.e. 3rd January 2019.

‘Flame of Knowledge’ has been conceived on the lines of the Olympic Torch and inspired by the Vision- 2020 of former Indian President Dr. A.P.J. Kalam for making India a powerful, progressive and prosperous nation. Dr Kalam always wanted to forward the benefits of science and technology to each and every Indian and thus enriching quality of their life. In fact, it is not only a tribute to the eminent scientists but also a movement dedicated to nurture scientific temper in the society, especially the youth.

Prior to this, Indian Science Congress Association Council Meeting was held at LPU Chancellor’s Board Room to address the executive committee and council members of 106th ISC for inspiring all to prove the science congress a grand success. Highlighting, many Nobel Laureates, Cabinet ministers including Union Science &Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan and Textile Minister Smriti Irani, eminent Scientists from across the world are to attend the mega event. Near 30,000 people from diverse sectors of the science community from top educational institutions, industry and allied areas of India and other countries will also visit the campus during all days of the event. The focal theme of the science congress is ‘Future India: Science & Technology.
