Phoolka reacts over missing children cases in Punjab
Ludhiana, November 23, 2014: HS Phoolka, Senior Advocate Supreme Court, has said here today that from 2011 to 2013, 1740 Children went missing from Punjab. Out of these 1087 were recovered. 653 are still missing and untraced.
He added in these 3 years from 2011 to 2013 only 159 FIRs were registered in Punjab. That shows in 653 cases of missing children even the FIRs are not registered for all of them.
He said information supplied to Rajya Sabha reveals that 3082 children are missing in Punjab.
He added the Supreme Court has summoned Chief Secretaries of five States namely Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tripura and the DGP’s of the two States i.e. Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
The Supreme Court is hearing the case every week and is taking up the case State wise, he said.
Phoolka said the turn of Punjab has not come yet. The performance of Punjab is very poor and much worse than the other states, he remarked.
