Preeti Saini and Ajay Kumar Choudhary, students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana who have been awarded national fellowship by University Grants Commission (UGC). 

Ludhiana, May 16, 2015: Preeti Saini, a Ph.D student of Microbiology and Ajay Kumar Choudhary, a Ph.D.of Plant Pathology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have been awarded national fellowship by University Grants Commission (UGC). The fellowship carries an amount of Rs 25,000 per month plus HRA and a contingency grant of Rs 12,000 per year till the completion of the doctoral degree or for a maximum period of five years.

Preeti is working under the guidance of Dr Madhurama Gangwar, PAU on “Identification of bioactive metabolites from endophytic actinomycetes isolated from medicinal plants.”

Ajay is working under the guidance of Dr Narinder Singh, Senior Plant Pathologist, PAU and is all set to work on "Development of superior strains of bioagents for the control of foot rot in citrus."

Dr B.S. Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr Neelam Grewal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies; Dr H.S. Dhaliwal, Dean, College Agriculture; Dr P.S.Sekhon, Head, Plant Pathology; and Dr (Mrs) P.P. Sahota, Head, Microbiology congratulated the students and their Major Advisors.
