Ludhiana, October 5, 2015: A three-day ‘Entrepreneurship Awareness Program’ in association with Regional centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh and Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India began at Gujranwala Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines here today. The event started with the lamp lightening ceremony. Prof. Manjit Singh Chabbra, Co-ordinator, GGNIMT welcomed the esteemed guests and resource persons on the occasion. He motivated the students to explore their inherent capabilities to emerge out as effective entreprenuers. He shared that the session intended to bridge the gap between academics and industry.
Prof. Parvinder Singh, Head, Business Management department, GGNIMT gave the rationale of the program. Highlighting the grim scenario of employability in India, he said that 24 Lakh well educated people applied for the 252 jobs of peon category in UP. Prof. Singh exhorted that the young generation must be introduced to entrepreneurship skills so that they can begin their own ventures and exhibit creativity and brilliance and bring mass good to the nation.
Prof. P. S Kapur, President, GKEC addressed the audience and inspired them to focus on classroom teachings as these are the building blocks of a good entrepreneur.
Mr. S. B Singh, CEO, Taaran Industry , Ludhiana was the resource person for the first session. While interacting with the students, he said that entrepreneurship is a behavior or a skill which should be incorporated by every one. The entrepreneurial skills not only made good businessmen but good employees as well. Mr. Singh focused on the tips of improving the entrepreneurship and employment abilities. He said courage and confidence are the two most important traits of a successful entrepreneur .He also cautioned the budding businessmen to choose their business project wisely and plan for  its funding and effecting implementation . Mr. Singh also highlighted the ‘Mudhra’ and ‘Single Window Mechanism’ Schemes for traders and entrepreneurs for their work convenience. Giving the success formula, Mr. Singh advised the budding entrepreneurs to aspire, seek, envision, act and grow in the world of entrepreneurship.
Ms. Astha Malhotra, Soft Skills Trainer was the next speaker for the day . She deliberated on the topic “ How to become a successful entrepreneur”.  She said one needs to believe in oneself to be able to sell his ideas. She encouraged the students to take initiatives and risks. She said  that every entrepreneur has both an innate skill set and one honed over time and experience. She exhorted the budding entrepreneurs must develop skills for effective communication, empathy and optimism.
Mr. Manish Sharma, Director, Discover In,  a GGNIMT alumnus was the expert for the next session. He guided the students on how to go about setting up their own ventures. He emphasized on  the qualities of vision, far sightedness and focus to be paramount to the success of a venture. “ To survive and thrive in the highly competitive  business scenario, one needs to upgrade himself in terms of resources and technology” said Mr. Sharma while motivating the students to indulge in self employment.
He also proposed to fund the e-business ideas by the creative students  upto a limit of 5 Lakhs.
The session concluded with the question-answer round there the students cleared all their doubts. Principal Dr. P. S Khattra thanked the guest for sharing valuable insights into the topic.
