PAU Student Ashwani Kumar Wins International Scholarship

Ludhiana, August 14, 2015: Ashwani Kumar, a Ph.D student of the Food Science and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been awarded the prestigious Dryland Cereals Scholarship, administered by Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions, Bangkok and funded by Consortium Group of International Agricultural Research. He is amongst the four students of Asia to have received this scholarship that aims at facilitating core competencies and knowledge of budding scientists in advanced science and technologies related to productivity and quality enhancement, post-harvest processing, value additions and policy interventions in dryland cereals.

Dr B.S. Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr (Mrs) Neelam Grewal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies; and Dr H.S. Dhaliwal, Dean, College of Agriculture congratulated the PAU student for this remarkable achievement.

Dr (Mrs) Amarjit Kaur, Head, Food Science and Technology and Advisor of the student, said the PAU student will receive US $10,000 spread over a period of 2 years to carry out research on the topic “Development of Synbiotic Drinks from Finger Millet and Oats.”
