PAU Kisan Club Holds Monthly Meet For Farmers And Farm Women

Ludhiana, October 6, 2015: The farm experts of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) deliberated on the development of happy seeder technology, cultivation of winter vegetable crops, and biogas plant – a resource conservation technology during the monthly training camp of the PAU Kisan Club. A training camp was also organized for the women’s wing of the club wherein farm women were educated about the preparation of homemade utility items. Both the camps were held under the guidance of Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, PAU and Programme Director.

The President of PAU Kisan Club, Mr Manpreet Singh delivered a talk on “Advances of Social Media in the Kisan Club.”

The Coordinator of the club, Dr T.S. Riar said the farmers were apprised of agronomic practices for successful cultivation of vegetables like potato, garlic and onion. Besides, the experts dwelt on the role of social media in agricultural marketing and FPO (farmer producer organizations) in farm development.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of women’s wing of the club, said the farm women received practical training in the preparation of bags, bottle holders, etc. Besides, experts gave demonstrations on the preparation of soups and delivered lectures on balanced diet, she added.
