PAU Board Of Management Announces New Appointments

Ludhiana, January 21, 2016: In its 275th meeting, PAU Board of Management approved the appointments of Dr.Gurmeet Singh Buttar as Additional Director of Extension Education. Informing about the new appointment PAU Registrar, Dr.P.K.Khanna said that Dr. Buttar is a Senior Agronomist of the University. He belongs to village Aasa Buttar of district Shri Mukatsar Sahib and he did his B.Sc.Agriculture (Hons.), M. Sc.(Agronomy) and Ph. D from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, after which he joined service in 1988 as Assistant Professor in the University. He has also served as Director, Regional Station, Bathinda as well as Head, Department of Agronomy. He has developed 43 technologies in the field of water management and 2010 he was honoured with ‘Parman Pattar’. During his tenure, Dr. Buttar also organized many national and international trainings. He has guided three M. Sc. and one Ph. D students as major advisor and has been honoured with many international awards. He visited Israel, Australia, Jordan and Pakistan for advance trainings/workshops.
Dr. Ranjit Singh Gill has been appointed as Head, Department of Entomology. He joined the University service in November 1987 as Assistant Professor. He has working experience of 28 years in the field of agricultural Entomology with eleven research projects, four books and participation in 73 national/international conferences to his credit. As major advisor, Dr. Gill has guided seven M. Sc. and three Ph. D. students.
Dr. Kiranjot Sidhu joined as Head, Department of Home Science Extension and Communication Management. She joined the University in 1990 as Assistant Professor, KVK, Ferozepur. In 2007, she was promoted to the rank of Professor. She has been working at the field level for providing vocational education to farmers/farm women and youth. In this regard, she has been associated with many national projects. She has guided six M. Sc. and one Ph. D student during her tenure.
