Ludhiana, November 11, 2016: Fortis Hospital Ludhiana organised a skill training session on Basic Life Support for 120 Hotel Management Students at PCTE, Baddowal. The workshop was organised under the supervision of Mr. Vivan Singh Gill, Director, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana.

The session was inaugurated by Mr. Anirban Gupta, Dean Hotel management, PCTE. The young students were trained in the basic life support skills and Service Industry to effectively enable them in managing emergency.

Skills were demonstrated by Dr. Vinay Singal, Consultant and Mr. Shrikant Juneja, Trainer, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana, “BLS is a life-saving technique that is used when someone’s heart has stopped. Some medical conditions, such as a severe heart attack, can cause the heart to stop”

Other causes include drowning, electric shock, poisoning, overdose and serious injury. For CPR to be successful, it needs to be started as soon as possible after a person's heart stops. CPR is easy to learn and it’s a skill that everybody should have. It’s good to know that you can help if someone near you needs CPR said Dr. Vinay.

Speaking on the Service Industry to Hotel Management Students, Mr. Shrikant talked on LEAP- an acronym stands for Listening, Empathy, Apologize and Problem Solving. A useful tool to reduce the customers’ anxiety worldwide.

Dr. Vinay presided the session and talked about the main elements of on the spot first aid techniques. This whole session was consisted of the demonstrations about the basic life support techniques and this provided all with an opportunity to learn in a better way.

Also present on the occasion were Mr. Kanwal Nain Thakur, Assistant professor and Ms. Amarjeet Kaur, Deputy Manager, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana.
