PAU APPRISES FARMERS AND FARM WOMEN OF GST IMPACT AND MANGO DRINKS

Ludhiana, June 1, 2017: The farm experts of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) dwelt on the cultivation of summer vegetables and impact of GST (Goods and Services Tax) on agricultural development during the monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club, organized in the University today. About 400 farmers participated in the camp. In addition, monthly training programme for women’s wing of the Club was also organized in which 45 farm women participated.

In his welcome remarks, Dr T.S. Riar, Coordinator of the Club, encouraged the vegetable producers and processors to opt for village marketing for financial sustainability and reduce dependence on other markets. He informed the participating farmers were also educated about silage making, management of milch animals in summers and health care in summers.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of women’s wing of the Club, said the PAU home scientists apprised farm women of value addition to mango and gave demonstrations on the preparation of mango fruity, mango panna, mango chutney and mango jam.

The President of the Club, M.S. Grewal proposed the vote of thanks. Both the camps were supervised by the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU.
