FLOWER SHOW ORGANISED AT JALANDHAR CANTONMENT

Jalandhar, March 21, 2017: A grand Annual Flower Show and Garden Competition was conducted by the Cantonment Board, Jalandhar and Station Headquarters Jalandhar, under the aegis of Headquarter Vajra Corps yesterday. Maj Gen Sanjeev Bajaj, General Officer Commanding, Jalandhar Sub Area, inaugurated the flower show and graced the occasion. Senior Army and Civil dignitaries and a large number of people from Jalandhar City and Cantonment including children witnessed this grand show.

The event is being held in Jawahar Garden for over 75 years. The annual flower show has inspired the residents of Cantonment and Jalandhar City to take a greater interest in flowers and environment. This year about 200 varieties of flowers and plants came for display in the competition. The Garden show was divided into two groups. First group was open for all, whereas the second group was open for serving personnel and families only. Garden of various educational institutes, individuals, public gardens and Regimental gardens participated in this competition.

On the spot Rangoli and painting competition for the children was also organised on the occasion. The children displayed tremendous enthusiasm, talent and innovativeness during the competition.

Brig RPS Sandhu, Deputy General Officer Commanding, Jalandhar Sub Area and President Cantonment Board lauded the interest of all participants and gave away the prizes. In addition to individual prizes, rolling trophies were also awarded for the best maintained private garden and best arboricultural project.
