Panjab University Community Radio Station Jyotirgamaya organises a talk show

Chandigarh, November 17, 2015: On the occasion of National Press Day, the Panjab University (PU) Community Radio Station Jyotirgamaya organised a talk show. 
In the talk show, the participants exchanges their views on press freedom, social media and diverse topics related to media. Blogger & social media activist Mukesh Kumar, media researcher & media tracker Siddhartha Negi and Journalism student Shivangi Walia participated in the talk. Working journalist Shweta Sharma hosted the talk show.
Speaking on the occasion blogger Mukesh Kumar highlighted the history of press freedom.
He said that the first press commission was established on 4th July 1966, but press council started working from 16 November 1966 therefore we celebrate National press day every year on 16 November.
Siddhartha Negi talked about media legislation and challenges of social media. He said that social media are challenging the media operations.
Journalism student Shivangi Walia underscored the importance of social media in various activities related to society and contemporary politics. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
