Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organising a 5-day workshop on creative textiles and surface design.

Jalandhar, February 1, 2015: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar’s P.G. Department of Fashion Designing has taken the initiative of organising a 5-day workshop on creative textiles and surface design.  The students are gaining a lot from this workshop under the valuable guidance of Nita Thakore who has  a great expertise and experience to her credit.  Due to her global exposure she has developed a worldwide vision and is trying to inculcate this sensibility into the students.  She has made the students develop articles by mixing patch work quilting and decorative filing.  The students are blending the technique of fabric, organic and shashiko.  She wants the students to learn the skill of showcasing the traditional crafts of India with a new and contemporary look for the Indian and world market just like putting the old wine into a new bottle.

The innovative weaves done by the students have been used to create illustration for dresses and accessories.

The students will be putting up an exhibition of their creative endeaouvr on 7th Feb in the department and the prototypes developed would be showcased in the upcoming fashion show Sukriti-15 by the department.

Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma has lauded the efforts of the students and faculty.
