Ludhiana, April 17, 2015: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ludhiana is organising a National Seminar on “Social Computing Phenomenon and its implications” and Panel Discussion on “Net Neutrality” on April 18 at its campus.

The seminar intents to bring eminent academicians, scientists, researchers, industrialists, technocrats and experts from all strata of society, under one roof, to explore the scope and nature of social computing and to focus on its diverse dimensions.

 While speaking to the media, Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Co-ordinator , GGNIMT said that this  seemingly simple technical advancement, called social computing  has far reaching impact on most of contemporary societies, necessitating its discussion on a wider scale.

The seminar would witness eminent speakers and delegates from all across the region. Dr. Maninder Singh, Head & Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering Department, Thapar University, Patiala would set the tone of the conference with his keynote address.  Dr. Sheetal Thapar,  Associate Professor ,  Dept of Agricultural Journalism, Languages & Culture, Punjab Agricultural University would deliberate an expert talk on “ impact of widespread use of social media on conventional media” This would be followed by a deliberation of “ Software Testing using  Soft computing” by Dr. Sanjay Singla, Prof. &Head , Dept of CSE at IET Bhaddal Technical Campus ,Ropar. Tarandeep Singh, Director, Digital Lookup would share his views on the topic “Use of social Media for Professional Growth”.

The expert deliberations and technical sessions would be followed by the panel discussion on “Net Neutrality”, a topic that has attracted massive public outrage and controversies. The discussion aims to shed light on various issues arising out of this unprecedented situation. Prateek Kalia , Associate Professor - Department of Business Management & HOD (Training & Placement) ,Ludhiana College of Engineering Technology , Katani Kalan, Nitish Mahajan, MD, Conjoinix (ISP) would be among the panelist along with the other experts.

Dr. P. S Khattra, Principal , GGNIMT said that such platforms are the breeding grounds for academicians and budding researchers .
