Jalandhar, November 6, 2015: Great academician & recipient of many state and national awards including fourth highest national civilian award, Padmashree Dr Surjit Patar visited the School of Arts and Languages (SAL) of Lovely Professional University. Dr Surjit Patar was invited to deliver an important guest lecture on ‘the Concerns of Punjabi Poetry’ for the benefit of all languages’ students. Dr Patar also shared about his life, literary achievements and creations. During the lecture session, Dr Patar had an open discussion with students on the basics and trends in Punjabi Literature. Discussing about the concerns of Punjabi poetry, he also shared certain important aspects in comparison to his own creations.  On this occasion students and researchers at the Department of Punjabi experienced how to understand and contribute to rich Punjabi Literature.
Great propagator of Punjabi literary forms and language, Dr Patar is still devoting his services to the Department of Punjabi at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, even after his retirement from other reputed institution of Punjab. Some of his famous works of poetry are "Hawa Vich Likhe Harf"; Birkh Arz Kare; Hanere vich Sulagdi Varnmala; Lafzaan di Dargah; Patjhad di Pazeb; Surzameen and more. He has translated into Punjabi many of the famous literary works of renowned authors including Spanish Federico García Lorca, Chilean Pablo Neruda and more. He has also adapted plays from famous Greek playwright Euripides.
LPU Head of the School of Arts & Languages Dr Sanjay Modi thanked Dr Patar and told that the ideas and creations of Dr Patar are of much importance for the welfare of mankind. Dr Modi also appreciated the role of staff members and students of the Punjabi Department for the success of this churning organization. LPU students seemed very happy as the manifold discussions by Dr Patar awakened them about different facets of Punjabi Literature.
