Ferozepur, November 22, 2014: One person died and two other sustained major injuries in yet another shootout took place in Ferozepur today. As per information available Darshan Singh son of Dalip Singh of Village Lehrabet, near Makhu had pawned his 1.5 Acre land to one Balwinder Singh few years ago. Darshan Singh was willing to get his land back by paying the predefined cost of the land but Virsa was expecting and demanding more money by saying that the rates of land have been escalated in the recent years. The matter was brought forward to the village panchayat. The decision of the village panchayat was pending for Monday. Meanwhile, both Darshan and Balwinder had a heated argument with each other today after which Balwinder shot at Darshan Singh and he died on the spot. His son Kulwinder Singh and his neice Gursewak singh were also injured in the incident.
The police have registered a case against Balwinder Singh, Davinder Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Jagandeep Singh, Gurlal Singh and 25-30 unidentified persons. Jagdev Singh, SHO, Makhu Police Station said that no arrests have been made till now and the police is investigating the matter.
