AAP to follow three pronged strategy to tackle drug addiction

Ludhiana, August 3, 2014: H.S.Phoolka of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday proposed to follow three pronged strategy to tackle menace of drugs across Punjab. Inaugurating a drug de-addiction seminar at Bachat Bhawan today, he suggested, first, rehabilitation of all drug addicts to lead a respectable social life, second, detection of early symptoms at entry level and, third, preventive steps so that children should not fall prey to the drug menace.
Detailed literature will be prepared on all these three modules and information will be disseminated through workers and volunteers of the party, Phoolka said.
In the seminar, experts from Allopathy, Naturopathy and Homeopathy, having vast experience in treating health problems arising out of drug addiction, participated in the seminar and threw lights on many related subjects. Dr Anil Chopra of DMC&H, Ludhiana, Dr. Nitin Behal and Dr Ajaypal Singh of Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana, Dr Yadwinder Singh Walia, Dr. Gurmail Singh Virk, Dr. Ramakant, Dr. A.K.Banerjee participated in the discussion. Dr. Anil Chopra deliberated on effects of Drugs on Brain and Nervous System, Dr. Nitin Behal on Liver, Dr. Ajaypal on Psychiatry, Dr. Walia on Motivation, Dr. Virk on Naturopathy and Dr. AK Banerjee on Role of Family in Addiction Management.  Dr. Virk, a retired CMO and expert in Naturopathy has so far succeeded in rehabilitating 72000 drug addicts
In the seminar, it was also decided that Aam Aadmi Party will train its own volunteers to act as councilors and will visit schools, colleges and villages to make people aware. Interaction will be also be done with parent teacher associations in Schools and Colleges and with women in villagers so that information about early symptoms in children and preventive steps could also be suggested.
Phoolka also gave the slogan “Bache Bachao, Suranjna Lagao” (Save Children Plant Suranjna) and laid stress on planting a wonderful plant Soranjana  (Moringa Oliefera) popularly known as Drumstick. It has been found to be an elixir in treating many diseases including High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Digestive problems, Weakness, Arthritis, Acidity, Urinary Bladder Infections etc. Literature about the plant was also distributed in the seminar.
