Now eligible family members of missing family pensioners to get family pension

Chandigarh, April 15, 2015: The Punjab Finance Department today issued a clarification that in the case of family pensioners suddenly missing; the next eligible member of his family would be given family pension.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson said that certain cases came to the notice of the Government where family pensioner went missing and there was no provision for giving family pension to any other member. He said that now government has taken the decision to mitigate the sufferings of families of family pensioners.  Now in the case of a family pensioner suddenly going missing, the next eligible member of the family can apply for the family pension after completion of one year of registration of FIR regarding missing of that family pensioner. He said that according to rules next eligible family member would be sanctioned family pension that would be given from the date of registration of FIR.

The spokesperson further clarified that if a member was eligible to get family pension but he goes missing before the sanction of family pension, the family pension would be sanction in the name of next eligible family member.
